about csl
In an era of increasing xenophobia, where politicians stoke fears of “the other”, Comedy as a Second Language seeks to humanize immigrants and, by joking about our differences, remind us of our similarities.
CSL gives a platform to voices that aren’t normally heard, talking about experiences that might not otherwise be shared, and we hope that by simply exposing the public to these stories and getting them to laugh along with us, it will serve as inoculation against bigotry.
By demonstrating that immigrants are just regular people with similar struggles, wants, and problems, we can break down walls, and maybe, just maybe, keep them from going up in the first place.
